How do I make a booking?

Click  HERE to see which rooms are available during your stay. For advance bookings (more than 1 month ahead) there may be other  rooms available so, if you can’t see what you want contact us directly. This situation is to avoid companies block booking in busy periods.

What beds do you have?

30+ beds in a choice of private & en suite rooms. See our Beds and Rooms page.

Is bed linen provided?

Yes. Clean linen is provided for each guest for the duration of their stay. A bottom sheet will be already fitted with duvet and pillow folded neatly. Towels are available at an extra charge of £2 each

Do you have single gender or mixed gender shared rooms?

Sadly not  in 2021 due to Covid-19 restrictions but hopefully next year!

Do I have to be a climber or a kayaker to stay at Skye Basecamp?

Skye Basecamp is owned by Skye Guides so we have ensured we have a great drying room and a friendly atmosphere but everyone is welcome.

FAQ Base camp

I would like to come with a group of friends, do you have a special price or booking system for groups?

Yes please contact us directly. It is also possible to hire the whole hostel for exclusive use for your group.

Do  I have to be a certain age to stay at Base camp? Can my kids stay too?

We welcome young adults over 12 at Basecamp but they must be in a private room with their family. 

How do I cancel a booking?

Contact us by email.  Our terms and conditions  state that if the booking is cancelled less than 14 days before arrival then a charge equal to the full booking amount will be made.
If the booking is cancelled 14 or more days before arrival then a charge equal to 50% of the stay will be made.

How do I change my booking?

Contact us directly by email/phone and we will do our best to help you. Our office hours vary but we aim to get back to you by the evening the same day.

What storage facilities do you have?

Rooms are all locked with keys or key-coded locks. We have a safe for passports and other valuables and a garage space for larger items. It is normally possible to leave bags with us through the daytime but they may be moved slightly to allow for cleaning.

 Do you have a drying room and laundry facilities?

We have a drying room & laundry facilities are available in the evenings after our own laundry is complete. Laundry has an extra charge.

Do you have self catering facilities?

We usually provide a large self catering kitchen but we are currently awaiting government guidelines regarding reopening, updates asap

Do you provide breakfast or other meals?

Currently we do not provide any meals for our guests.  We have a great newly fitted self catering kitchen and the supermarket is only 2 minutes walk away.

Can I bring alcohol?

Yes and we enjoy the odd tipple ourselves! There will always be a friendly and sociable atmosphere at the hostel so you are sure to meet folk to share a drink and a chat with. We ask that all alcohol and food and drink be consumed in the downstairs areas and not taken into the bedrooms. Please be respectful of others who may be up early for outdoor activities or long journeys.

Can I bring pets?

Sorry but assistance dogs are the only pets that we allow in the hostel.

Can we camp at  Skye Basecamp?

Unfortunately we do not have enough space to allow camping but can recommend local campsites or sites for wild camping/camper vans.

Do I need to take a towel?

Towel hire is available for £2.

I’m staying for longer than one night, will my room be cleaned?

Your room should be hoovered, bins emptied, and showers and toilets cleaned every day. Let us know if you would prefer us not to do this.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Checkout– 10am on morning of departure but a long as your room is empty you are welcome to be leisurely about breakfasting and actually saying goodbye to Basecamp

Check-in; 4pm onwards in peak season, 

Early check in: early check-in may be possible , it will depend on our workload but you can leave your bags and head off out

Late check-in: if you are expecting to be late, self check in is usually possible to arrange by email/text but be sure to tip toe in if it’s after 12 midnight. 

The hostel is open all day to checked in guests but we do need to get the cleaning done so access to washrooms, bedrooms, kitchens and dining room may be restricted during daytime cleaning, lifting your feet for vacuuming etc.
